Winter Solstice Song Circle
Celebrating the Return of the Light
Come raise and weave your voice in community as we celebrate the turning of the season from darkness toward light! Join us for a heartwarming community song circle, with beeswax candles, songs of hope and renewal, and a cozy break for ginger-lemon tea. With special guest April Laurie on percussion!
We'll journey through a mix of songs from quiet and contemplative to joyful and celebratory, honouring the darkness and calling in hope and resilience as the light returns. We'll sing heart-centred, secular, spirit-lifting songs from the community singing movement, by songwriters like MaMuse, Sarina Partridge, and Max Ribner, along with an original song or two by Sylvia.
All songs are joyfully taught by ear in the oral tradition. Some have three or four beautiful harmony layers, while others are simple chants or rounds with room for harmonies to arise organically. There may be movement and playful actions along the way!
All voices are welcome, and no musical experience is necessary. This is about joy and connection, not perfection.
Stay afterward for an optional community potluck—a chance to share food, conversation, and connection as we celebrate the turn of the season together.
Please bring: A mug for ginger-lemon tea (paper cups will also be available). And a dish to share for the potluck if you wish to stay!
Sliding-scale admission: $15–$30
To make this gathering accessible to people with different financial circumstances, please choose an amount that feels both generous and affordable to you.
