Meet at Densmore Park, Lincoln, NE
Join us for our first Ruck & Roam this season! It's a guided walk of about 3 miles through the woods of Wilderness Park, held in partnership with Friends of Wilderness Park. Plan on about an hour.
Ruck with weight or come unweighted. This isn't a workout, just a friendly community walk. Anyone who can walk about 3 miles on uneven ground is welcome, at any age or fitness level.
Route and weather: We'll post the exact route in our Facebook group the week of the event, and it will depend on the weather: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1C9couUHTY/. We go rain, shine or snow. We'll only cancel if ice makes the roads unsafe, and any cancellation will be posted on Facebook.
Cost: Free! Donations to the Wilderness Park expansion are encouraged.
Why we're doing i
Winter is when it's hardest to get outside and keep moving, and it's also when it helps the most. Plenty of people in Lincoln have never set foot in Wilderness Park, and this is an easy, friendly way to explore it with a group.
Support the park
Friends of Wilderness Park and Solidago Conservancy are buying neighboring floodplain land to grow Lincoln's largest park. Over 97% of Nebraska is privately owned, so every acre of public woods counts. The new land adds wildlife habitat and more room for hiking and biking.
They need to close a $150,000 funding gap by December 31, so November and December are the big push. Give what you can, even $5, at friendsofwildernesspark.org/donateform.html
