About this Event
Join us in the Cultural Stewardship Reading Room inside the Arts Incubator, a comfy space to explore books, magazines, and other materials about South Side culture, arts, and history. We’ll be showing Home Movies for the Holidays, a nostalgic wintery mix of scenes from the South Side Home Movie Project archive, with an eclectic soundtrack of music selected by South Side DJs Selah Say, Rae Chardonnay, DJ Tess, DJ Raven Wright, DJ Trew and Rob McKay. Warm drinks, light bites, and the first 20 guests will take home a free book by a Chicago author.
The Reading Room is also featuring books and resources connected to Intentionality, 1960: Whose Dreams?, Chicago artist Candace Hunter’s exhibition in the Arts Incubator Gallery through December 12. The Gallery will be open extended hours for visitors to explore the exhibition on its final day.
Just steps down the block, Chicago Torture Justice Memorials Foundation is hosting an open house in L1 Commons. Stop by to make a custom tea, bid in their silent auction, nibble on seasonal treats and get to know CTJMF as construction begins on the Memorial next year.
Take a break from the cold, connect with friends and neighbors, and celebrate the season with APL.
