About this Event
Step into the world of Kusamono at The Kusa Studio — an intimate, hands-on workshop celebrating the quiet beauty of plants as living art.
Rooted in Japanese botanical tradition, Kusamono translates loosely to “grass things” and embraces thoughtfully composed plant arrangements that celebrate seasonality, texture, movement, and simplicity.
Amid the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, take a moment to slow down, reconnect with nature, and create something beautiful with your own hands. In this special winter workshop, you’ll explore the inspiration behind Kusamono and the philosophy that guides our work at The Kusa Studio, drawing on the natural beauty of the season to create a living holiday centerpiece that feels both festive and timeless.
You’ll compose your own miniature landscape using carefully selected plants, mosses, stone, and natural elements, then add a special finishing touch: your choice of a handmade miniature village house, lovingly created by our very own Maggie Mowery. Each house brings its own character and charm, making your centerpiece a truly personal creation.
Whether displayed as a holiday centerpiece or enjoyed long after the season has passed, your living composition will be a reminder to embrace the beauty of small things, find joy in the creative process, and make space for a little stillness amid the holiday rush.
You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind living work of art to enjoy throughout the holidays and beyond.
