FAQ’s – Winter Cycle Fest
Why are you offering this event? February is the perfect time to begin your research and journey toward your dream bike and accessories. Hosting Winter Cycle Fest now gives you a head start before spring, helps you beat the Midwest rush, and allows you to secure priority ordering and shipping before the snow melts. And frankly, riding bikes indoors in February is just plain fun!
Because we don’t work on commission, you can expect a relaxed, no-pressure experience designed around your needs.
Will vendor partners be present so we can meet them? Yes. We will have vendor representatives on-site. We are currently finalizing which vendors will attend and will update the event details and communications as plans are confirmed.
What about parking? The DoubleTree by Hilton offers a parking ramp and there is nearby street parking. If you choose to ride your bike to the event, you can bring it into the building and we’ll keep it safe.
Do we need to register? No registration is required. If you plan to test ride a bike, you’ll sign a liability waiver upon entry and receive a rider bracelet.
Do I have to purchase anything at this event? Nope! Winter Cycle Fest is a free educational event designed to help you explore options. For riders who find their dream bike, we will accept deposits for pre-orders and special orders so you can secure priority in vendor shipping lines.
How old do I need to be to test ride e-bikes? Iowa e-bike law requires riders to be 16 or older to test ride a Class 3 e-bike which is pedal assist only up to 28 mph. An adult must be present for anyone under 21. We may decline a test ride if a rider appears unsafe or does not meet age or supervision requirements.
Are helmets required for test rides? Yes. Helmets are required for all test rides and we believe, you should wear a helmet any time you ride a bike.
Can we leave with a bike the same day? Not at the event. We need all demo bikes available for test rides throughout the day. You may reserve a bike on a first-come, first-served basis and pick it up two days after the event, giving us time to complete a final safety and performance check.
Will you accept cash at the event? No. We will accept credit cards and checks only at Winter Cycle Fest. Because this is a large off-site event, it’s difficult for us to anticipate and manage the right amount of cash and change, so card and check payments help us keep things running smoothly.
What is the process for test riding a bike? It’s simple: we take your name, confirm your rider bracelet, and check out the bike you want to ride.
Can we ride multiple bikes? Yes! We encourage it. Test riding multiple bikes helps you find the best fit and style. For bikes priced over $2,500, rides may be limited to those seriously considering a bike in that range.
I would like to see which accessories fit on my bike… can I bring my bike to the event and see which accessories work? Yes! Bring your bike and we’ll help you find the right match. This is a great opportunity to test compatibility with racks, bags, lights, saddles, storage solutions, and more.
