Come and find out how to become a Wild Yarmouth Ranger, and help protect the wild in Great Yarmouth!
About this Event

What to expect?

This two-hour session will be an introduction to the Wild Yarmouth Rangers project, for anyone who is interested in finding out more.

We will discuss what is involved with being a 'Wild Ranger', and explore different ways we can protect and care for wildlife in Great Yarmouth at different times of the year, particularly during the colder months.

If the weather is good, we might head outside for a short walk in Great Yarmouth Cemetery to spot some wildlife on the day!

If during the session you decide you would like to get involved in the project, you will have the opportunity to sign up to become a Wild Yarmouth Ranger, and make a badge or a t-shirt.

We will be meeting at Wastesmiths HQ, 18 Estcourt Road.

Wild Yarmouth Rangers is part of the Make, Grow + Mend project. If you would like to find out more, you can visit our website, find us on Facebook, or follow our updates on Instagram.

If you'd like more information about Wild Yarmouth Rangers, or anything else we do, we would love you to get in touch - send us an email to [email protected].

Who is the project for?

Wild Yarmouth Rangers is for people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds - the only requirement is that you're interested in caring for wildlife in Great Yarmouth!

You might already have some wildlife-related knowledge, e.g. experience of foraging, gardening, or watching David Attenborough, or you might have none at all. Everyone is welcome - if you'd like to get involved, we’d love you to join us.

This session will be aimed at adults, but under-18s are welcome to come along if they are accompanied by an adult. Small children/babies are very welcome to be with us too.

All our sessions are FREE to join, but you are welcome to make a donation to support our running costs if you would like to.

As this session, and future Wild Ranger group sessions are likely to involve some walking through different areas, they may not always be suitable for those with very limited mobility. If you would like to join us but this is a concern for you, please get in touch and we will do our very best to adjust our sessions for your needs. You can reach us by sending an email to [email protected].

What do you need to bring with you?

All the materials and equipment for the activities will provided, so you don't need to bring anything with you to join in. We will provide a hot drink as part of the session and you are welcome to bring your own reusable cup.

Getting to the venue

We will be meeting at Wastesmiths CIC, 18 Estcourt Road, Great Yarmouth, NR30 4JQ.

If you're driving, there is some free parking available on adjacent roads.

There are also bike racks on site if you are cycling to join us.

If you are travelling by public transport, the venue is a 15-minute walk from Market Gates bus station and a 16-minute walk or 6-minute cycle ride from Great Yarmouth train station.

Access information

The Wastesmiths building is not wheelchair accessible at present, but please do get in touch if you'd like to join us and this would prevent you from doing so, and we will make arrangements to gather elsewhere!

Also, as we will be providing refreshments for these sessions, please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies that we need to be aware of.

Carers and support workers are very welcome to join us!

Our sessions are always inclusive and open to all. If you have any questions or concerns about accessing the group, please send us an email at [email protected].
