Join Women Who Whiskey Twin Cities and Lost Woods Whiskey at the Dodge Nature Center on Wednesday, October 7 to explore how the natural world makes whiskey possible.
“Eating is an agricultural act” - a quote made famous by the late Wendell Barry, a Kentucky farmer, environmental advocate, and poet- has since been adapted by brewers and distillers alike, since drinking distilled spirits or brewed beverages also involves consuming agricultural products.
Participants will enjoy a short hike to learn how oak trees yield aging barrels, how peat moss flavors Scotch, and how different grains (corn, rye, barley) shape a spirit's profile. The experience will end with a whiskey tasting and talk with Tom Schaeppi of Lost Woods Whiskey.
Tickets are $58 and will include a guided hike and presentation from naturalist Pam Welisevich, a guided American Single Malt tasting with Tom from Lost Woods Whiskey, savory bites, a whiskey-infused sweet treat from North Mallow, and all applicable local taxes and ticketing fees.
Schedule
6:30 to 7:00 pm - Check-in, social with savory bites
7:00 pm- Nature program will begin with a short hike/nature walk. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and be mindful of weather conditions.
7:45 pm - 8:30 pm - Whiskey program and tasting. This portion of the event will be indoors.
8:30 pm - 9pm - Post-event social (and s’mores roast) around an outdoor campfire
Ample surface parking is available at the Nature Center - additional parking and wayfinding details will be shared closer to the event.

Pam Welisevich is a Naturalist, Animal Care Coordinator, and Environmental Educator at the Dodge Nature Center. She also leads the “Women in the Woods” series of educational activities, which aims to introduce or invigorate women's love of and curiosity about nature.
