Wicker at Maine Film Center A hard man is good to find.
An audacious comedic fable about sex, marriage, and the absurdities of social convention, Wicker tells the wholly original love story of an ostracized fisherwoman (Oscar-winner Olivia Colman) who commissions a husband to be made by the local basketmaker (Emmy-winner Dinklage). When her wicker husband (Emmy-winner Alexander Skarsgård) proves more spectacular than she ever imagined, his soulful spirit and unique prowess awaken something inside her, setting off a wave of jealousy, fascination, and upheaval that threatens the very fabric of village life.
Based on the short story by Ursula Wills-Jones and also starring Emmy-winner Elizabeth Debicki and Oscar-nominee Richard E. Grant, writer-directors Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer have crafted a delightfully unique—and steamy—tale of happy couples, unhappy couples, and the lengths to which jealousy can take us. "Wicker is a sweet, gently moving love story at its core that reminds its audience that the most effective and necessary traits for a successful relationship of any kind are simple honesty and respect."—Cody Dericks, Next Best Picture.
