About this Event
Artificial intelligence is advancing quickly, but decisions about its future should not be left only to technology experts.
The Wichita Accord is bringing together people from across our community, including workers, employers, educators, students, parents, caregivers, civic and faith leaders, technologists, and interested residents, to explore how increasingly capable AI may affect our lives and institutions.
Join us for the Wichita Accord’s first public town hall information session on October 26 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center at Newman University.
You do not need technical knowledge or experience using AI to participate.
This session is designed to help you:
- Understand what the Wichita Accord is and why it is beginning in Wichita
- Learn about current AI capabilities, possible future developments, and areas of genuine uncertainty
- Consider potential effects on work, education, health, family life, human dignity, and the common good
- Share questions, concerns, opportunities, and experiences from your own life or field
- Learn how you or your organization can participate as the Accord develops toward a larger community convening in 2027
This will not be a traditional technology conference, a skills-training workshop, or an effort to persuade participants to adopt a predetermined position. The goal is to help people become better prepared to ask questions, challenge assumptions, recognize consequences others may miss, and contribute meaningfully to the conversation.
All levels of interest are welcome, and expressing interest does not commit you or your organization to a policy position or final statement.
