The further you go back in history, the more confusing what people believed can become to us today. We'll be looking at why in the 1500s it made logical sense to blame a person.
We'll discover...
- What life was like in the 15 and 1600s
- What witches did - including the good they got seldom got the rightful credit for
- Why is was women in particular that got the blame
- Some of the witchcraft that stood the test of time and is still around us today
How my 'Talks' work
'Talk' sounds so formal right?Think of it more of a friend catching you up on the latest TV show they watched. If you don't understand anything, just wave and I'll explain more!
The exact talk will be adapted to the questions asked and what that audience is interested in. I'll likely ask if you do know anything before we start so I know what to reference and what needs more explanation. You do not need to know anything in advance; no prior knowledge needed.
Access is really important to me, so I encourage you to bring a quiet activity if that helps you get stuck into the talk! Paper and markers are available on tables.
3H Introduction to... series.
Most of my content focuses on identity - who you are and how society has shaped this. For example:
- Gender as a Spectrum - Medieval Style
- Why Women Were Witches
- How 200 women voted in the 1868 General Election
- Why we Changed What we Wore (Intro to Dress History)
- Women in Trousers
- Disease of the Learned - Age-old Struggles for Students
