Author, historian and broadcaster; Graham Loveluck-Edwards brings you a series of talks on the horrible history of Christmas. Real history and genuine events but viewed through a light-hearted lens and presented in a humorous and entertaining way. Suitable for all the family.Discover how the character of “Father Christmas” was originally created to represent everything that was wrong with Christmas. How modern day Santa shares a lot of DNA with the Norse god; Odin and why the people of Dijon burned an effigy of Santa Clause in front of their Cathedral.
We will also be looking at some of the more bizarre traditions associated with the festive and mid-winter season. Everything from the Welsh tradition of the Mari Lwyd to the rather terrifying “Krampus”.
