If God is all-good, all-knowing, and all-powerful, why does He permit evil?On Tuesday, October 6, the Thomistic Institute chapter at Ohio State University will host Dr. Daniel Garland, Assistant Professor of Sacred Scripture at Saint Mary Seminary & Graduate School of Theology, for a lecture titled:
“Making Sense of Evil: Exploring the Solutions.”
The problem of evil raises some of the deepest questions in Christianity:
Why create beings capable of choosing evil?
Why does innocent suffering exist?
How do human freedom and divine providence fit together?
What exactly is evil?
And how does the Cross change the way Christians understand suffering and providence?
Dr. Garland’s background in Sacred Scripture, patristic interpretation, and Thomistic theology makes this a particularly interesting opportunity to explore these questions seriously.
