Grampian and Tayside Birth Partners are coming to share just why they do what they do. What Cassie and Arleen are doing is really a return to the old ways - when women helped other women through pregnancy and birth. It may seem a wild undertaking, but generations of us once relied on such women who knew how to do this, even when a romantic partner is involved. It was just part of living in closer communities. Having a birth partner these days shouldn't be just for those well off mothers who can pay, so this charity trains women in the community to support ANY women who need and ask for it, at low or no cost, especially those more vulnerable or isolated. This doesn't mean they don't want typical hospital input also.Many folks need a someone to help them through this vital time, and yet don't have anyone. Birth partners have often been seen as solely for those with money, which is why Cassie and Arleen have formed this organisation. This training is for anyone who has the time and inclination to learn how to support women, providing non-medical support that can make all the difference for a positive birth experience.
So, on Thursday 12th Nov at 6pm, turn up for a warm welcome at @HerSpace, at the 3:16 Cafe, King Edward St in Perth, where we collaborate with @grampianbirth, the Her Space women and the WWitC women to learn how we could become birth partners, and why it's a vital skill to have in the community in this current climate.
