Join us as a panel of BU faculty discuss the complicated, and sometimes problematic concept of Global Latinidad. This is a discussion of who gets to be Latino/a/é/x in our society and the politics around each of these terms.
Our moderator is Pamela Zabala Ortiz, an assistant professor of sociology at Boston University.

The Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground presents a signature series called the Identity Series, which aims to create a platform for meaningful conversations about diaspora, particularly in relation to race, ethnicity, and nationality. The four identities covered are: Black, Latino/a/é/x, Asian, and Middle Eastern North African.
During the Latino/a/é/x Identity Series, panelist and participants will engage in conversations, explore the arts, media, and storytelling to delve into the contemporary issues facing the diaspora. This public education series aims to educate participants about the diverse aspects of Latino/a/é/x culture. It examines how language, culture, space, place, community, and politics shape Latino/a/é/x culture.. This series welcomes all participants in interested in learning about the global Latino/a/é/x culture.
