About this Event
On the red carpet, "Who are you wearing?" refers to who designed your outfit. In the daily life of an average person and in Hamilton Hill/Grieve Leave language, it might refer to your grandmother, your father, a friend, or anyone who left you a ring, a watch, a special piece of jewelry.
Maybe you wear those pieces every day without thinking. Maybe a piece has been sitting in a box for years waiting for an occasion that never quite comes. Maybe it belonged to someone who died. Maybe it belonged to someone who's still very much alive but no longer in your life. Maybe you have joy around the piece, maybe it brings grief. The grief is real, the piece is real! Both deserve a night out on the town!
“Who Are You Wearing?” is a Sad Hour™ by Grieve Leave hosted with Hamilton Hill Jewelry, a gallery of contemporary and modernist jewelry in Brightleaf Square, Durham, North Carolina. Hamilton Hill team will be available to help you understand unknown details of your piece(s) including gem identification, metal identification, potential for repurposing, and more.
Bring your questions, your stories, and the pieces you’re curious about. Hamilton Hill will even shine them up with complimentary on-the-spot cleaning. You will be able to browse the Hamilton Hill showcases, but the focus of this event is to bring out the pieces we treasure, swap stories, and celebrate why we’ve held onto them.
Come with something that belonged to someone. Come with questions. Come without any of the above! Enjoy refreshments and real conversation. Rest assured you will not be pressured to share or spend.
Tickets: $10 (includes a drink, hors d'oeuvres, and great conversation) | RSVP to save your spot.
