About White Sands National Park
White Sands National Park is a place like no other on Earth — a vast sea of shimmering white gypsum dunes stretching across southern New Mexico. Covering over 275 square miles, it is the largest gypsum dune field in the world, creating an almost surreal landscape that feels both ancient and otherworldly.
As you walk through the dunes, the soft, cool sand beneath your feet feels unlike any other desert — it's bright, powdery, and uniquely reflective, glowing under the sun and glistening under the moonlight. Sunsets here are breathtaking, with the white sands catching the colors of the sky in hues of gold, lavender, and rose. And when the stars come out, the night sky is expansive and crystal clear, offering a front-row seat to the cosmos.
White Sands is more than a natural wonder — it's a spiritual and sensory experience. The silence is profound, the views are endless, and time seems to slow down. It's a place where you can breathe deeply, let go, and feel a deep connection to the Earth and sky.
To be in White Sands is to be wrapped in a rare and delicate kind of magic — one that grounds you, awakens your senses, and leaves you transformed.
Is there science behind Sound Baths?
Sound healing and therapy have existed since ancient times. In ancient Greece music was used to treat mental illness. The Australian Aboriginal people, for 40,000 years, used the didgeridoo for sound healing, and in Tibet the singing bowls have been part of spiritual ceremonies for many many years.
The connection between sound and healing was chronicled in 1896 when American physicians discovered that certain types of music improved thought processes and spurred blood flow. This paved the way for creating new therapies with sound and treating a variety of illnesses. Sound therapy has evolved and morphed into many forms of healing that we see today but the fact the sound helps one heal still remains true.
What do the experts say?
Marlynn Wei, M.D., J.D., a board-certified Harvard and Yale trained psychiatrist and therapist, suggests that sound healing has ancient roots in cultures all over the world. Sound healing is a form of focused awareness. The frequency at which sound bowls resonate through the body allows for higher levels of inner peace and relaxation. - Psychology Today
“It also has a particular effect on the brain because music or sound healing has a particular vibration,” the professor-in-residence in UCLA’s department of psychiatry. “It’s just one practice, a very ancient practice, that can be part of the portfolio of tools that leads to stress reduction." on the TODAY show
“Sound healing helps the body do what it does best by realigning on a cellular level to heal itself,” explains Spaulding, a registered nurse and a master sound healer. “It’s a scientific fact that everything in the universe is vibrating and everything has its own resonant frequency. When those resonant frequencies get misaligned, that’s when disease or illness happens.” - Stewart Magazine
