About this Event
Photography gives us the remarkable ability to stop time—to preserve a fleeting moment and share it with others. For me, photography has never been simply about documenting a place or an animal. It is about connection: to the natural world, to cultures whose traditions are changing, and to quiet moments that might otherwise pass unseen. Having traveled to more than 70 countries, I have witnessed extraordinary beauty in both wilderness and humanity. From remote deserts and frozen mountains to intimate encounters with wildlife, these experiences have shaped how I see the world and strengthened my belief in our responsibility to protect it. A single photograph can carry us back to a moment, awaken a memory, or inspire wonder. Through Captured Images, I create fine art photographs intended to endure—images that invite reflection, evoke curiosity, and deepen our connection to the natural world.
Michael Mucci
Michael Mucci is a fine art photographer who’s traveled to more than 70 countries that has shaped his interest in wildlife and the places it needs to survive. He lived in Africa for five years without seeing a wild leopard; years later, he photographed a black leopard in Kenya’s Laikipia wilderness. His work also includes polar bears on Arctic ice, mountain gorillas in Uganda and jaguars in Brazil’s Pantanal. Working alongside his wife, Katrin Weiss, through Captured Images, Michael photographs animals in the wild and documents landscapes and cultural traditions. In Whispers of the Wild, he shares encounters he hopes will make distant animals feel personal, giving viewers a reason to care about their future.
Katrin (Kati) Weiss
Katrin Weiss’s photography moves from the coastal waters of Southwest Florida to the frozen Altai Mountains of Mongolia. Her subjects include a black leopard resting in Kenya, a puma moving through Patagonia and the weathered remains of a pier in Puerto Natales. She pays close attention to an animal’s expression, the shapes within a landscape and the changing light. Traveling and photographing alongside her husband, Michael Mucci, through Captured Images, Kati values the time spent watching and learning as much as the photograph itself. Her work in Whispers of the Wild invites viewers to pause long enough to notice those details and feel a connection to the animals and places before them.
