90 minutes for Gold Coast parents of teens with ADHD. Screens, motivation, risk, blowups. One ticket admits 2 parents or carers.About this Event
Most of what's written about parenting ADHD is written for eight-year-olds. Nobody hands you the teenage version: screens at midnight, chores after the tenth reminder, impulsive decisions with real consequences, and the conversations about vaping, driving or school you keep putting off.
This 90 minute workshop is about what actually changes in adolescence, why the strategies that used to work have stopped, and what to try instead. It also covers the part nobody explains: how getting help actually works, from school support to GPs, specialists and Medicare.
There's no set answer for every family. The research gives us approaches that tend to work, and you hold the most important information about your own teenager. You'll leave with a best guess, a plan to try it, and a way to learn from what happens next.
What we'll cover
• What changes in adolescence and why the old strategies stopped working
• Motivation, chores and the things that never get done
• Screens and sleep without the nightly battle
• Impulsivity, risk-taking and the conversations you're dreading
• Repairing after a blowup and keeping the relationship intact
• Getting help: school, GPs, psychiatrists, Medicare and funding
You'll leave with
• A workbook to keep
• An email template for talking to your teen's school
• One specific change to try, with a plan for when it doesn't go smoothly
