When Mass Torts Go Wrong: A Panel Discussion on New Book "The Pain Brokers"
Join us in person for an engaging chat about the ups and downs of mass torts. Dive deep into the stories and insights from the latest book, "The Pain Brokers". Perfect for anyone curious about legal battles, the human impact, and what happens behind the scenes. Don’t miss this chance to hear from experts and get your questions answered!
Inspired by the new book The Pain Brokers by Professor Elizabeth Chamblee Burch, this panel takes a closer look at the hidden dynamics of mass tort litigation – from the pressures and incentives that shape major cases to the real consequences for the people involved.
Bringing together leading law scholars, the conversation explores what unfolds behind the headlines and inside the courtroom, and what these complex disputes reveal about the practice and ethics of lawyering today. Professor Burch will reflect on the themes of her book and respond to questions raised during the discussion. Audient participation is encouraged.
Panelists include:
- Gilat Juli Bachar, Temple University Beasley School of Law
- Howard M. Erichson, Fordham Law School
- Myriam Gilles, Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law
The discussion will be moderated by Professor Anthony Sebok, co-director of the Jacob Burns Center for Ethics in the Practice of Law.
This event is approved for 2.0 transitional/non-transitional New York State CLE credits in the category of Ethics & Professionalism.
