Join the UCA College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences as we celebrate and screen "September 30, 1955," which was filmed at UCA and throughout the Conway area. The movie, released in 1977, was written and directed by former student James M. Bridges, who went on to become an award winning Hollywood director (Urban Cowboy, The Paper Chase, China Syndrome). The script is heavily based on Bridges' real life experiences on the Conway campus when news of James Dean's death broke in the fall of 1955. The movie stars Richard Thomas (Ozark, The Waltons), Tom Hulce (Amadeus), Dennis Quaid (The Parent Trap, The Rookie, Reagan), Lisa Blount, Dennis Christopher (Breaking Away), and Susan Tyrrell, along with a host of Conway extras, UCA faculty, and UCA band members. Emmy-winner Richard Thomas, who portrayed Jimmy J. in the film, will be on hand to talk about the movie following the screening, which begins at 7 pm. Join us at Reynolds Performance Hall at 6 pm for the pre-party and be immersed in the culture of the 1950s, complete with radio DJ, music dancing, cars, memorabilia, food, root beer floats, and more!
