ORC commissioned the Air Quality Collective to work with Te Kura O Take Kārara and community volunteers to gather more information about air quality across the town.
Over the last couple of months, students and community members have helped collect valuable air quality information. Now it’s time to share what we found.
Air quality scientist Ian Longley will talk about:
• Whether Wānaka has an air quality problem and what the monitoring showed
• Why community involvement matters when understanding local environmental issues
• The experiences of the students and volunteers who took part
• What the results tell us about air quality in Wānaka
• How air pollution affects health and how to put the risks into perspective
• Practical steps that individuals, households and communities can take to help improve air quality.
This project is part of a collaboration between ORC and the Air Quality Collective to better understand local air quality and support informed community discussion.
