About this Event
Discover the scale, science and spectacle of Whatley Quarry on this unique guided minibus tour. Journey behind the scenes of one of the UK’s largest limestone quarries and learn how Carboniferous limestone is extracted, processed and transported across the country.
Your knowledgable guides will take you through the quarry’s processing areas, explain the geology beneath your feet, and show how modern quarrying techniques shape the landscape. You’ll also get a close-up look at the quarry’s rail operations and see how stone is loaded and moved by train.
This is an outdoor, industrial-site experience, so please wear sensible footwear and weather‑appropriate clothing.
