WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW is led by longtime Bacharach music director ROB SHIRAKBARI with THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC CONCERT ORCHESTRA and special guest appearances by SHAUN ESCOFFERY, RUMER, MICHAEL BLACKWELL, GEORGIA VAN ETTEN, WOODY MANKOWSKI, and JANA VARGA.After a sold out performance at Royal Albert Hall in July which included the legendary Dionne Warwick, WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW - The Burt Bacharach Songbook expands it’s schedule to include a Fall UK tour 5-12 October to honour the music one of the most influential songwriters of the past century - Burt Bacharach.
The evening features special guest performances from British soul/R&B singer/actor and West End star Shaun Escoffery, acclaimed UK artist Rumer, both of whom worked closely with Burt Bacharach, alongside Mercury Prize-nominated singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt plus special guests Georgia van Etten, Woody Mankowski, and Jana Varga. The show will be accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra under the musical direction of Rob Shirakbari, Bacharach’s long-time arranger and music director.
Audiences can expect definitive performances of Bacharach’s classics including The Look of Love, Walk on By, Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, Anyone Who Had a Heart, Make It Easy On Yourself, and the timeless anthem What The World Needs Now.
These songs will be brought to life by the WTWNN Band accompanied with full orchestral arrangements reflecting the sophistication and emotional sweep of Bacharach’s original work.
Bacharach remains one of the most decorated songwriters in modern music with a catalogue that includes 73 US Top 40 and 52 UK Top 40 hits as well as three Academy Awards, six Grammy Awards and an Emmy. His songs have been recorded by hundreds of artists across multiple generations and genres.
