About this Event
Can money only be created top down, or also bottom up?
Does building wealth always have to be about money?
How has our financial system come to be the way it is now, and what options might there be beyond it?
CoFi (Collaborative Finance) is an emerging field and community of practice exploring how communities can create, run, and govern their own financial systems, services, currencies, and instruments – collaboratively, and for themselves.
This group is for everybody who is curious to learn and/or has some knowledge to share. Perhaps you are part of a community and wonder how best to share resources within it. Or you are simply interested in the history of money and finances and what it means for us today.
For the first few months, the plan is to work through some course material and exercises (based on an existing MOOC), starting with a look at the financial system and the role of the state.
Join us for this first meeting, where we decide how to best organise this – for now the idea is one lesson every 4 weeks, with a catch-up session in-between. I will also share how I got interested in CoFi, say what I have learned about it so far, and explain why I think it is important and will be more so in future.
