What did the Romans ever do for Cambridgeshire?!

Inspired by Monty Python’s Life of Brian, join Old Willingham for our upcoming talk as we dive into the incredible (and sometimes chaotic) history of Roman Cambridgeshire!
Did you know the Romans hand-dug a 92 km canal to drain the Fens? Or that they built a luxurious four-story stone tower in the middle of a swamp at Stonea Grange?
From engineering straight highways through treacherous wetlands to mass-producing the “white gold” (salt) and fancy Nene Valley pottery, we’ll explore everything the Roman Empire brought to our doorstep.
Find out more at the Old Willingham meeting on Monday the 31st January at 7.30pm in the Social Club £5 cash or card on the door to cover the cost of the room.
Please click “Going” to help us track numbers for seating.
We look forward to seeing you there.
