On 3 November, Beginner Wife Club welcomes Karina, a wife of 18 years, mother of five, and women's ministry leader who has been with the same man since she was 17.
They met as teenagers, fell in love, got married and started a family. But the years that followed weren't exactly a fairytale.
Financial crises. Seasons of her husband working abroad. Raising five children, including a period with four under the age of six. Changes in sexual intimacy, disagreements and the ordinary difficulties that come with sharing a life.
And yet, Karina doesn't simply say they've managed to stay married. She says she's happy to be married.
We want to know why.
During this evening, we'll explore:
- Marriage under financial pressure: What happens to a couple when money becomes a serious problem? How do you face it without turning against each other?
- Romance after children: How does physical intimacy change through motherhood, exhaustion and different stages of marriage?
- Five children, one marriage: How do you remain husband and wife when so much of your attention goes towards being Mum and Dad?
- Marriage across distance: How do you remain connected when work keeps you physically apart for long periods?
Choosing each other through change: What have nearly 25 years taught Karina about disagreements, commitment, faith and actually enjoying married life.
