More About Our Community!
Women for Success nonprofit launched in direct response to the global pandemic and its impact on women. It is estimated that within the first 3 months of the pandemic women were set back a decade in economic advancement. 40 percent of female entrepreneurs launched their businesses as a direct result of the pandemic, with the U.S. Census Bureau receiving more than 1.5 million new business applications as of mid-December 2020; however, many lack the tools, resources, and support to build and scale a successful business. We launched in May 2020 to lift women up when we were being pushed down the most, and we are looking to create generational impact!
Supporting women-owned and led businesses is not just the right thing to do. Female-led companies outperformed their all-male counterparts by 63%, and women-led teams generated a 35% higher return for their investors. Women are also more likely than men to establish a business that doubles as a social venture. Clearly, it’s an economically smart strategy for governments, corporations, and the philanthropic and finance communities to invest in women-led ventures.
But the odds can be stacked against a new business. Despite women founders outperforming and outpacing their male peers, in 2021, companies founded solely by women garnered merely 2.4% of the total capital invested in venture-backed startups in the US. It’s also estimated that approximately 20 percent of small businesses fail within the first year. By the end of the second year, 30 percent of businesses will have failed. And by the end of the decade, only 30 percent of these businesses will remain — a 70 percent failure rate.
With a mission to bring professional and entrepreneurial women together to combat the odds against women in business and get more funding in the hands of female founders, Women for Success has been able to invest in thousands of self-identifying women business owners in our community. And now, we're asking YOU to join our movement and create generational impact one BUSINESS SHOWER at a time!
VISION: Creating Generational Impact for Self-Identifying Women.
MISSION: Women for Success provides self-identifying women with a supportive community where they can receive free workshops, tools, resources, ementorship, small business grants, and Business Showers to ensure every woman has a chance to define success on her own terms.
OUR CORE PILLARS:
Collaboration over competition
Community support and mentorship
Small business grants + Business Showers
Free workshops tools and resources
