The Asheville Art Museum’s Wellness Day invites visitors to experience the Museum as a place for restoration, reflection, creativity, and community. Throughout the day, guests are encouraged to slow down and engage with art through a series of thoughtfully curated wellness experiences that nurture both mind and body.• Afternoon Tea Parlor | Windgate Foundation Atrium and Plaza, noon–4pm
• Yoga on the Plaza | 12:30–1pm
• Yoga in the Galleries | 1:30–2pm
• Live Music: Soothing Sounds | Exhibition Halls and Windgate Foundation Atrium, noon–4pm
• Drop-in Workshop: Therapeutic Art Making | John & Robyn Horn Education Center (level 3), 1–4pm
• Slow Art Tours | 11:30am–noon, 1–1:30pm, 2:30–3pm
Museums are uniquely positioned to serve as spaces for wellness. Unlike many public environments, museums invite contemplation, curiosity, and intentional looking. They provide settings where individuals can step away from daily demands and immerse themselves in experiences that inspire wonder, empathy, and personal discovery. By integrating mindfulness, movement, creative expression, and music into the museum experience, Wellness Day expands the role of the Asheville Art Museum as a community resource dedicated not only to the appreciation of art but also to the holistic well-being of those it serves. The program demonstrates that museums can be active partners in fostering healthier, more connected communities by creating welcoming spaces where creativity becomes a pathway to healing, resilience, and joy.
