CfA Wellbeing Hub Practitioner Special Interest Group
Come and join us for at our next SIG on Wednesday 18th November 2026. This in-person event is an opportunity for professionals who work with autistic children and young people to come together to network with other local professionals and share their understanding of neuro-diversity affirming approaches.
Date: Wednesday 18th November 2026.
Time: 4pm for a 4:15 start till 6pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
Title: Lived Experience of PDA
Speakers: Alesha Harvey - PDA adult studying psychology at the University of Reading
Hilary Harvey - Alesha’s Mum, Founder of Odyssey PDA peer-to-peer support group and Trustee of the PDA Society.
Alesha's talk will include a brief introduction to PDA amd a description of living with PDA day-to-day - Managing daily demands, anxiety, friendships, independence and preparing for the future; my experiences living with PDA, what’s hard, how I cope and what helps from others.
Alesha will then offer some thoughts about the school system - The realities of education as a PDA student and tutor. Transitions, school life, helpful and unhelpful approaches. How I broke the rules to get through a system that was breaking me.
Hilary will tell us about Odyssey PDA and the PDA Society.
Please note that Alesha is happy for us to share her slides after the event but kindly requests that you do not take photographs of her slides or of herself during the SIG
