Seasonal works and arrangements by modern American composersFeaturing Robert Shaw’s The Many Moods of Christmas, Kirke Mechem’s Seven Joys of Christmas, and Libby Larsen’s Ringeltänze (Ring Dances)
With special guests, the Hillsborough Reformed Church Adult Handbell Choir.
Join us on Saturday, December 12, as Voices Chorale NJ presents “Welcome In! A Holiday Concert” at Trinity Church, Princeton. This festive program celebrates the warmth, wonder, and joy of the holiday season through a vibrant collection of seasonal works and arrangements by modern American composers.
The concert features longer pieces that capture the spirit of the season in contrasting ways. Robert Shaw’s beloved The Many Moods of Christmas offers a rich musical journey through traditional Christmas carols, while Kirke Mechem’s Seven Joys of Christmas brings fresh energy and expressive color to familiar carols of the season. Libby Larsen’s Ringeltänze (Ring Dances) adds a contemporary voice to the program, with settings of lesser-known carols that invite listeners into a lively world of rhythm and movement.
Adding a special dimension to the concert, Voices Chorale NJ will collaborate with the Hillsborough Reformed Church Adult Handbell Choir on selected pieces, combining the resonant tones of handbells with the richness of the human voice.
The program brings together the familiar and the unexpected, blending cherished holiday traditions with the creativity and distinctive voices of American composers. With rich choral textures, sparkling handbells, and spirited musical storytelling, “Welcome In!” offers the opportunity to gather in song to celebrate the season together.
