About this Event
Wanna lift weights with queer people? Come lift with us!
All ages, levels of experience, and forms of exercise are welcome! Drop-in at any time and stay for however long you'd like. Our meetups are always free of cost.
We provide snacks, water, masks, and plenty of weight-lifting equipment!
Our meetups are not instructional, but we're always happy to provide guidance.
Waivers:
Everyone is required to sign a waiver upon entry. We have blank waivers available. The waivers can be viewed ahead of time at https://linktr.ee/queerliftingclub.
If you're under 18, make sure a legal guardian can sign your waiver. There's no mention of "queer" on the under 18 waiver.
Entrances:
The church’s back entrance (near the parking lot) will be unlocked. There is a staircase immediately following the back entrance.
The (partially) wheelchair accessible entrance is identifiable by a long ramp starting at the intersection of Sparks Street and Bay Street. It has two large, wooden doors at the end of the ramp (and a large staircase) that can be seen from the road below. To use the wheelchair accessible entrance, ring the doorbell or contact us, and we will hold the door(s) open for you. The doors will otherwise remain locked. There will be contact methods posted on the door. Please email us if you need the contact methods ahead of time. In order to access the workout space, you have to go through a second entrance that is narrower. This entrance measures exactly 35 inches in width. Please let us know if there are any ways we can support you in accessing the club given this limitation.
Masks:
Wearing a mask is mandatory for participation. We provide n95 and kn94 masks. Feel free to remove your mask to eat or drink, but we ask that everyone respects the space of the people around them while doing so. Windows will be open for air flow.
Quiet area:
There is a quiet area with seating and low-lighting.
Restrooms:
The church has two private, gender-neutral restrooms. One is wheelchair accessible. Pads and tampons are available in both restrooms for anyone who needs them.
Transportation:
There are some free parking spots in the driveway of the church (beside the parking lot). There is also paid parking in the parking lot and free street parking nearby. The church is close to Lyon station by train/bus. Bikers can keep a bike locked on the railings outside the church or unlocked in the church hall.
When transporting, keep in mind that some weeks, we will not be there to let people in until very close to the start time. Because of the drop-in style of the meetups, it’s better to arrive later than arrive earlier and wait outside.
