About this Event
From the snow-capped Alps to the rolling vineyards of Piedmont and Lombardy, northern Italy is home to some of the country's most celebrated wines, and plenty of hidden gems.
Here, dramatic landscapes, Alpine influences and centuries of winemaking tradition combine to produce wines with incredible character. Think fragrant reds, elegant whites, vibrant acidity and a wonderful sense of place. While the region might be best known for the mighty Barolo, there's so much more to discover beyond the big names.
This Thursday, we're taking a little trip through northern Italy (no passport required!) with three fabulous wines showcasing the diversity and charm of this extraordinary part of the wine world.
On the tasting menu this week:
Trediberri – Dolcetto, Piedmont
From one of the exciting younger wineries in the Langhe, this is Dolcetto doing what Dolcetto does best! Juicy black cherries, ripe plums and a touch of almond, with soft tannins and a lovely freshness. An effortlessly drinkable red that reminds us why the Italians have been enjoying Dolcetto at the dinner table for generations.
Trediberri – Langhe Nebbiolo, Piedmont
From the grape behind the legendary wines of Barolo comes a more approachable, youthful expression of Nebbiolo. Expect fragrant red berries, rose petals and a hint of spice, with bright acidity and those wonderfully characteristic, fine-grained tannins. All the charm of Piedmont's noble grape, without having to wait a decade to open the bottle!
Bruno Verdi – Pinot Gris, Lombardy
From the rolling hills of Oltrepò Pavese in Lombardy, where the Verdi family has been making wine for generations, comes this beautifully expressive Pinot Gris. Think ripe pear, orchard fruit and delicate floral notes, balanced by a refreshing acidity and a subtle mineral edge. A lovely reminder that northern Italy has plenty to offer white wine lovers too!
Three wines, two regions and a whole lot of Italian charm. Come discover why northern Italy deserves a little more space in your wine rack!
