Description: This is a condensed Weekend Class, Saturday, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm. Mercy's Weekend Option Childbirth Education Class provides preparation for informed childbirth with a focus on techniques for relaxation, visualization, and comfort/coping measures. This class provides a forum for your questions and helps to bring your partner into the birthing experience, providing practice with coaching and being your advocate. A tour of labor and delivery and the mother/baby unit is included.
The series of classes covers:
Understanding pregnancy and labor
Communication and decision-making skills
Breastfeeding Basics
Prenatal care
Physiology of birth
Hospital procedures and birth choices
Warning signs of pre-term labor
Medic*tion and pain relief options
Breathing and coping techniques
Complications and unexpected outcomes
Postpartum and basic newborn care
Cost: $125.00 (plus $9.02 registration fee) per couple. Details: A light breakfast will be provided. You will have an hour free for lunch. You will be notified by email about a week before class begins regarding the class location, what to bring, where to park, etc.
*Most insurance companies will provide reimbursement for the classes, and some provide prepayment. Please call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card prior to registering for more information.
*Employees of Mercy will receive a 25% discount for classes.
*When registering, please keep in mind that Childbirth Education Classes are meant to be taken during the third trimester of pregnancy.
*Classes have a minimum and maximum attendance requirement. If the minimum attendance is not reached, the class may not take place. If the maximum number of registrants has been reached for the class you want to take, please email the organizer at [email protected]. There may still be room in the class.
