ART SWAP
Wednesday, October 14 6p - 9p
Many of us would not be on our artistic journeys without encountering another person’s expressions that ultimately inspired our own.
Join us on Wednesday, October 14th for an open art exchange with the artist community at Bailey’s Cafe. Bring prints, sketches, studies, poems, or other small pieces to present and to exchange. All are encouraged to bring multiple pieces to share and exchange, but it is not required.
We will begin by sharing our works and a little about ourselves. From there, the room will open up for conversation and socializing. Through these conversations, participants can share the work they brought to present and exchange pieces of art with other artists.
You can still attend if you have artwork to present but not to exchange. We do encourage artists to exchange work with each other. Or you can share a story about yourself and your art journey in place of art work. By letting go of these pieces, we make room for new inspiration from others.
The Art Swap is a chance to share experiences, build community and connection, inspire one another, and carry each other's mementos forward.
The Larry Weekes Backroom Gallery at Bailey’s Cafe is a one-room low-tech gallery space that focuses on supporting artists who live in or near Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. The space is named in memory of Larry Weekes, the late president of Fulton Art Fair who initiated the transformation of the back room of Bailey’s Cafe into an art gallery. The Backroom Gallery is dedicated to nurturing the emerging and underrepresented artists who need more showcase experience in order to access more established and known galleries and museums.
