Waves of Life: Photography Competition and ExhibitionCalling all visual storytellers! Waves of Life: Photography Competition and Exhibition brings together visual storytellers to spotlight critical environmental realities across aquatic ecosystems and beyond.
Organized jointly by Youth4Ocean, Waterkeepers Bangladesh, and Mission Green Bangladesh, this exhibition invites photographers to capture the delicate balance of our natural world, the livelihoods tied to our waters, and the urgent impacts of climate and industrial pressures.

• Venue: National Art Gallery, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka

Competition Themes
1. Marine Biodiversity: Life beneath the surface, coastal wildlife, and marine habitats.
2. Aquatic Livelihood and Coastal Pollution: Communities dependent on water bodies, juxtaposed with the realities of coastal and plastic waste.
3. Energy and Environment: The intersections of power generation, industrial footprint, and ecological preservation.
Prizes & Recognition
• Champion (per theme): 10,000 BDT + Crest and Certificate (Total: 30,000 BDT across 3 themes)
• Runner-up (per theme): 5,000 BDT + Crest and Certificate (Total: 15,000 BDT across 3 themes)
• Honorable Mention: 15,000 BDT total prize money + Crest and Certificate
• Outcomes: Selected works will be featured in exhibitions, public installations, printed publications, and digital platforms.
Submission Rules & Technical Guidelines
• Submission Limit: Maximum 5 photographs per theme (up to 10 total across all themes).
• Accepted Formats: JPEG or PNG (Color or Black & White).
• Resolution & File Size: Maximum file size of 5 MB per photograph.
• Disqualifications: AI-generated images, heavily photoshopped files, and excessively cropped images will be strictly rejected. Failure to follow ethical standards or technical requirements results in automatic disqualification.
Required Caption Format Every submitted photo must include:
• Title: (Optional / If any)
• Location: City, Country
• Date of Capture: Month & Year
• Contextual Description: A brief note detailing the specific environmental issue depicted in the frame.
Copyright, Usage & Ethics
• Ownership: Photographers retain full copyright of their images.
• Organizer Usage: By submitting, participants grant a non-exclusive, royalty-free license for exhibition, publication, promotion, and educational use with proper credit given to the photographer.
• Ethics: All submissions must be truthful representations of reality. Staged scenes presented as documentary, unethical manipulation, or misleading captions will lead to disqualification.
• Selection: Submissions will be evaluated by a curatorial jury panel whose decisions are final and binding.
