About this Event
Join WeAreWaterloo and BID member Tally Ho on a post-work pub crawl!
Guided by a charismatic local storyteller, you'll wander the winding lanes and lively streets of Waterloo and Lower Marsh - an area that’s worn many hats over the centuries. From medieval manors and marshland to Victorian industry and wartime resilience, this neighbourhood has stories stitched into every cobblestone.
You'll raise a glass in some of the area’s most characterful pubs, starting with The King’s Arms tucked away on picture-perfect Roupell Street, then onto The Duke of Sussex on Baylis Road, and The Pineapple on Hercules Road - each stop serving as a gateway to a different era of local history and culture.
Along the way, you'll explore:
- Why Lower Marsh isn’t just a name but a clue to Waterloo’s soggy past
- Hidden remnants of Georgian and Victorian life
- Stories of revolutionaries, rogues, and resilient Londoners
- And how the arrival of the railway changed everything (and almost flattened the area!)
Whether you’re new to the area or just fancy exploring beyond your usual after-work pint*, this walk promises a fresh perspective on a place you thought you knew. Plus, a complimentary drink awaits on WeAreWaterloo... Cheers!
*non-alcoholic options are also offered.
