Watercolor 201: Advanced WatercolorWorkshops are 3 consecutive Sundays from 11a-1p Starting April 4th
Ready to take your watercolor skills further?
Watercolor 201 is a 3-week advanced series focused on three skills that can transform your paintings: color, light, and edges.
Each week, we'll tackle a complex new subject while developing greater control, confidence, and independence with watercolor.
Week 1 — Color Mixing & Harmony
Fruit Still Life
Go beyond basic color mixing to create rich, harmonious color without mud.
We'll explore: color harmony, warm & cool color, neutrals, rich darks, saturation and intentional mixing.
Week 2 — Light, Shadow & Value
Sunlit Doorway
Learn how to use value and temperature to create convincing light, shadow and dimension.
We'll explore: value, contrast, preserving light, warm & cool shadows and reflected light.
Week 3 — Edges & Depth
Dancer in White
Use hard, soft and lost edges to create depth, movement and atmosphere.
We'll explore: edge control, soft transitions, selective detail, depth and focal areas.
Before You Register
Watercolor 201 is an advanced class and is not designed for beginners.
You should already be comfortable with watercolor basics including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry brushing, color swatching, layering and water control.
We will be building on these skills, not reviewing them.
New to watercolor? I recommend taking Watercolor 101 first.
How Watercolor 201 Works
Advanced paintings take time — and there's no reason to rush them.
In class, we'll work through the foundation of each painting and focus on the techniques that benefit most from guided instruction. You'll then continue your painting at home, at your own pace, using what you've learned.
Bring it back the following week for feedback, questions and troubleshooting.
The goal isn't to finish faster. It's to become a stronger watercolor artist.
