About this Event
What if your future had already been decided?
On the day Muzamil is born, a holy man in his Sudanese village makes a prophecy: he will die at twenty. His mother dresses in black and starts counting the days. Muzamil grows up shaped by that number, until a man returns to the village carrying films, music and a world bigger than the one he's been given. Then the question is no longer when, but whether.
Amjad Abu Alala's debut feature won the Lion of the Future at Venice and became Sudan's first ever Oscar submission. It's tender, luminous and quietly defiant, and one of the most beautiful African films of the last decade.
