Commotio is delighted to perform for the first time at St Michael’s and All Angels in Abingdon. The programme will feature three world premieres, including two commissions for Commotio by Joanna Marsh and Ian Carpenter. There will also be the world premiere of Griselda Sherlaw-Johnson's 'Wassail', a prize-winning entry in the 2025 Halifax Choral Society's Paul Cairns Memorial Composition Competition, and from Commotio alumnus, Ian Crawford: his winning entry from the 2025 Sir David Willocks Carol Competition run by the Bach Choir. Also included will be popular favourites from Jonathan Dove and Herbert Howells, music from Spain, Sweden, Finland, and the United States, as well Hungarian Levente Gyöngyösi's dynamic setting of Puer natus in Bethlehem. The choir will also be sharing their annual mince-pie bake off at the interval; a prospect nearly as tantalising as their superb singing. Don’t miss this unique evening of powerful, poignant, and uplifting choral music.
