Step inside the war in Ukraine.Put on a VR headset and you are there: a burned-out apartment block, a street where every window is gone, the wreckage of the “Mriya,” once the largest airplane ever built. The footage was filmed in 360 degrees across Ukraine by the War Up Close museum. For a few minutes the war stops being something on the news and becomes a place you are standing in.
It is documentary footage, with no blood and nothing graphic, so everyone is welcome. You don’t need any experience with VR. Our team will get you set up, and with 12 headsets on loan from the UT Libraries, the wait for a turn is short. Mykola Omelchenko, who co-founded War Up Close and photographed much of what you will see, will be there to talk with visitors.
Come anytime during the day and stay as long as you like. Admission is free.
- Saturday, October 24
- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
