This afternoon stroll around Georgian Bath features readings from 18th century guide books and newspapers about the pleasures of BathAbout this Event
Fashionable Londoners flocked to Bath in the 18th century, as much for entertainment as for health reasons. This afternoon walk around Bath uses contemporary guide books, letters and newspapers to recreate the atmosphere of an afternoon in Georgian Bath, with stories of dancing, gambling, fighting duels, going shopping and ladies six a side football!
The walk starts at Bath Spa railway station and takes in the exterior of the Pump House, Bath Abbey, Queens Square, the Theatre Royal, the Spring Gardens, the Royal Cresecent and Jane Austen's house and many more of Bath's famous Georgian buildings.
The walk finishes in the centre of Bath so there will be time to visit one of Bath's attractions after the walk.
