Walking the White Blazes: Exploring the Appalachian Trail

Stretching over 2,190 miles from Georgia to Maine, the Appalachian Trail is one of the world's most famous footpath journeys. Join us for an engaging presentation that traces the history, landscapes, and culture of "the A.T."
We’ll explore the rich origins of the trail, journey through the 14 states it traverses, and highlight the diverse flora and fauna—from mountain laurels to black bears—that hikers encounter along the way. You’ll also learn unique trail lingo like thru-hiking, trail magic, and zero days. Whether you're an experienced backpacker, a casual day-hiker, or an armchair traveler, you'll leave with a deeper appreciation for this iconic American treasure.
Presented by Jay Fee, who hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2000, and is now Library Systems Administrator for the Keene Public Library.
