About this Event
Walk for Peace - Peace in the City brings people of all backgrounds together for a 7km community walk celebrating connection, unity, and goodwill. It will start at Tarntanyangga – Victoria Square and end with a celebration at Peace Park - Karrawirra on Sir Edwin Smith Drive, North Adelaide. During the walk you will visit symbolic Peace Poles, each carrying messages of peace in different languages. Ambassadors along the route will welcome walkers at certain Peace Poles and share some words of inspiration. Peace Poles are located throughout the city, including St Mary's College, The Muriel Matter's Society, Adelaide Oval and St Peter’s Cathedral.
Participants can choose to walk the whole 7km route or choose sections of the walk only.
Walk for Peace – Peace in the City reminds us that peace isn’t just something that happens at the United Nations or in diplomatic meetings. It starts with everyday choices: choosing respect over judgment, conversation over assumption, and making sure everyone in our city feels they belong. When Adelaide practises kindness and inclusion, we help build the foundations of peace everywhere.
The walk brings together schools, multicultural groups, community organisations, businesses, visitors, residents, sporting identities and everyday South Australians who want to help build a city where everyone feels they belong. All ages are welcome, and the event is accessible for walkers, mobility aids and prams.
Highlights include:
• Peace reflections at city Peace Poles by Peace Ambassadors
• Cycling Without Age trishaws at Peace Park
• Children’s peace song
• A visit to the Adelaide Oval and St Peter's Cathedral Peace Poles
