A bit about the WHY...
Walk for Mental Health – United as One Community
Mental health doesn't discriminate. It affects farmers, football and netball clubs, families, friends, workmates and neighbours. Most of us have been touched by it in some way, and too many of us have lost someone to their own battle.
On Saturday 17th October, we're asking our community to come together and make a real statement.
We'll meet at Caffeine n' Machine in Rutherglen before walking along the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail to John Foord Bridge in Wahgunyah.
When we reach the bridge, we'll all turn around and walk back.
That turnaround is symbolic. It represents the moment we face the battles that so many people fight every single day. Mental health isn't something we can outrun—it has to be faced together.
Whether you choose to walk, run or ride, every step shows someone they're not alone.
One of the things that makes our community special is that while we're fierce rivals on the football and netball court, we're mates off it. This day isn't about colours or clubs—it's about standing shoulder to shoulder for a cause that affects us all.
We have set up a GoFund Me page with every dollar raised going towards mental health services through Gateway Health, helping people who need support. (Link for GoFund me is pinned in feed)
Bring your family, your teammates, your mates and your workmates. Let's show what our community can do when we come together.
