About this Event
Through VyStar Credit Union's generous support, members of the community have greater access to contemporary art through free admission every Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Registration is not required. This program is free and open to all.
Through its generous support for this program, VyStar Credit Union is working to empower visitors to engage with museum content more easily by breaking down barriers to access related to admission cost. By supporting this free access program, MOCA is significantly increasing the opportunities for visitors to engage.
“Museums are spaces that bring communities together through enriching experiences, new perspectives, and opportunities to learn and connect. Great museums are a sign of a strong metropolitan area with the ability to attract diverse professionals, families, and individuals who contribute to the local economy,” says Caitlín Doherty, executive director at MOCA Jacksonville. “MOCA Jacksonville believes in serving the Northeast Florida community by providing an inspiring, contemplative space for visitors to enjoy and learn about the art, artists, and ideas of our time. Our team strives to make MOCA an accessible community gathering space that opens new doors to impactful experiences and empowers learning for all ages. The VyStar Free Saturdays at MOCA program is just one example of the museum's commitment to access.”
Through its commitment to community building, MOCA Jacksonville provides access to arts and educational experiences for the entire community, introduces contemporary art to thousands of students in Duval County through school tours and family programming, and supports local artists through the exhibition of innovative, locally created works of art. With an ambitious program schedule, MOCA provides a platform for community discussion and debate, critical and creative thinking, and cultural exploration, while acting as a vital community convener for creative conversation. The museum team is committed to providing opportunities to connect and experiences that are welcoming, respectful, thought-provoking, and engaging.
Operational support for MOCA Jacksonville is provided by the City of Jacksonville, the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the University of North Florida.
