Join us to clear woody brush from the Sycamore Greenway in south Iowa City. After last year's ecological restoration work, funded by a REAP grant, we are starting with a clean slate. We'll try to stay ahead of the regrowth as best we can. This session we will be working on the trail near the Sycamore Apartments, the area in the yellow box on the map above. You can park along the gravel Lehman Ave. extension as indicated by the blue box.
Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes, gloves and clothing to protect their skin from poison ivy, thorns, ticks or other possible hazards. Long sleeves and pants are a necessity. The terrain may be rocky and uneven.
A limited number of loppers are available to borrow. Please indicate in your signup notes if you will need to borrow loppers, or will be able to bring your own.
