Celebrate the holiday season with VOENA Children’s Choir as they present Voices of Peace on Earth, a special holiday concert inside historic St. Peter’s Chapel on Mare Island.Surrounded by the Chapel’s original Tiffany stained glass windows and historic architecture, VOENA’s singers will take the stage in elegant Victorian attire for a celebration of music, hope, compassion, and peace.
Joining VOENA is acclaimed Taiko artist David Gonzalez, carrying on the tradition of Taiko Grandmaster Seiichi Tanaka, known as the father of Taiko in North America. Together, the powerful rhythms of Taiko and VOENA’s soaring voices create a performance that brings together cultures and musical traditions from around the world.
At the heart of every VOENA performance is its mission: Uniting the World Through Children’s Voices. Representing more than 35 cultures, VOENA has performed on stages around the world, including the White House, Carnegie Hall, the London Olympic Games, the World Expo in Japan, and for the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
The setting makes this holiday performance especially unique. Dating back to 1901, St. Peter’s Chapel is the oldest Navy chapel on the West Coast and the second oldest in the United States. Its intimate interior, historic architecture, and Tiffany stained glass provide a remarkable backdrop for this celebration of the season.
