Celebrate the Great Ginkgo’s landmark status with a special ceremony and an outdoor concert of jazz and Latin rhythms under autumn leaves.
About this Event

Join us on Sunday, October 12 at 4:00 PM on the Cloisters Lawn as we officially designate the park’s magnificent Great Ginkgo as one of NYC Parks’ celebrated Great Trees. This special ceremony honors the enduring beauty and ecological importance of this centuries-old landmark.

Following the commemoration, enjoy an outdoor concert featuring Jhoely Garay and her ensemble. A New York–based guitarist, composer, arranger, and educator from Mexico, Jhoely blends straight-ahead swing, contemporary jazz, and vibrant Latin American rhythms. Through her music, she amplifies stories of climate awareness and overlooked histories, creating an unforgettable evening of sound and purpose.

Celebrate nature, music, and community beneath the golden autumn canopy of Fort Tryon Park’s Great Ginkgo!
