This concert is a heartfelt expression of solidarity with the extraordinary country of Cuba, celebrating its resilient people, vibrant culture and enduring spirit. Through music, we honour Cuba’s creativity, dignity and humanity, bringing people together across borders in a shared celebration of cultural connection and friendship.Soprano Ayşe Göknur Shanal and pianist Ashley Hribar join forces to present this extravagant concert, presented by Artists for Peace, in support of a country that is the embodiment of music, passion and love...
Inspired by everything she experienced, during her trip, Ayşe felt compelled to curate this performance, as stepping stone for a vision to realise a larger project to speak out, to draw attention to the country, its warm, soulful people and the beauty of its nature.
Cuba has profoundly shaped world music, giving rise to vibrant traditions including son, rumba, mambo, cha-cha-cha and salsa. Blending African rhythms with Spanish influences, Cuban music has inspired generations of musicians worldwide, enriching jazz, dance and popular music with its irresistible rhythms, expressive melodies and infectious energy.
The audience is in for a real treat of incredible repertoire from some of the masters of Cuban music, which will take them on an emotional journey.
