There will be 2 performances at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PMSerenata Orchestra presents Vital Organ, an unforgettable celebration of the power, beauty, and majesty of the pipe organ in collaboration with Cathedral of the Rockies in Boise.
Featuring organist David Young, the program brings orchestra and organ together in music ranging from intimate reflection to breathtaking grandeur. At the heart of the concert is Camille Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3, the magnificent “Organ Symphony,” a work that builds from shimmering orchestral color to one of the most exhilarating entrances in the symphonic repertoire.
The program also features Widor’s celebrated Toccata, the luminous Adagio associated with Albinoni, music from Beethoven’s The Creatures of Prometheus, a Mozart Church Sonata, and Hot Pipes—all showcasing the remarkable range of an instrument capable of whispering one moment and filling an entire cathedral the next.
Set within the soaring architecture and resonant acoustics of Cathedral of the Rockies, Vital Organ offers a rare opportunity to experience the tremendous sound of pipe organ and full symphony orchestra together.
